Why You Keep Waiting for the Perfect Time
Why You Keep Waiting for the Perfect Time
If we're being honest…
A lot of our lives have been spent waiting.
Waiting for the right opportunity.
Waiting until we feel ready.
Waiting until we have enough money.
Enough confidence.
Enough experience.
Enough certainty.
And while waiting feels responsible…
It can quietly become one of the biggest reasons life never moves forward.
Maybe you've told yourself:
"I'll start next month."
"I'll do it when I know more."
"I'll begin when things become less stressful."
Those words sound reasonable.
They even sound wise.
But sometimes…
They are simply fear wearing the clothes of patience.
The difficult thing about waiting for the perfect time is that it almost always feels justified.
There is always one more reason.
One more excuse that sounds completely valid.
Life is busy.
Money is tight.
You have other responsibilities.
You need more preparation.
And before you realize it…
Months have passed.
Sometimes years.
Not because you were unwilling to grow.
But because you kept waiting for a version of life that rarely exists.
The truth is…
Life has never promised perfect conditions.
Think about some of the biggest decisions you've ever made.
Were you completely ready?
Probably not.
Did you know exactly how everything would turn out?
Most likely, no.
Yet somehow…
You moved.
You learned.
You adjusted.
And life met you on the journey.
Not before it.
Sometimes we imagine that confidence comes first.
Then action follows.
But life often works the other way around.
You take the first step while your hands are still shaking.
You learn while you're still making mistakes.
You become confident because you kept going.
Not because you waited long enough.
Can I tell you something I have learned?
Fear becomes louder when life stands still.
The longer you wait…
The bigger the obstacle begins to look.
The harder the first step feels.
The more impossible the dream starts becoming.
Not because the dream changed.
But because your mind kept feeding your fear instead of your faith.
This doesn't mean you should rush every decision.
Preparation matters.
Wisdom matters.
Thinking things through matters.
But there is a difference between preparing…
And hiding.
Sometimes we call it preparation because that sounds better than admitting we're afraid.
And maybe that's the conversation you need to have with yourself.
Not,
"Am I ready?"
But,
"Am I genuinely preparing… or am I quietly hiding?"
Your life will probably never arrive at a place where every uncertainty disappears.
There will always be questions.
There will always be risks.
There will always be reasons to wait.
But there will also always be reasons to begin.
The decision is yours.
One day, you'll look back at this season.
And it won't be the opportunities you missed that you'll remember most.
It will be the moments you finally chose courage over comfort.
Because sometimes…
The perfect time is not something you find.
It is something you create the moment you decide to move.
